CHAUMET “Links” collection

In France, there are very old jewelry houses, contributing to the reputation of Place Vendôme and close to the greatest families in France. This is the case of Chaumet, a Parisian jeweler since the end of the 18th century. A virtuoso for 240 years, Chaumet is notably renowned for having created Empress Josephine's most beautiful adornments. The house has also given birth to iconic collections, such as the Liens jewelry.

The Liens collection is as old as Chaumet; it is a characteristic motif of the Parisian Jewelry House. Highly symbolic, it represents the bond that unites two people. While this collection has, of course, given rise to numerous rings, the motif is also found on pendants, necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. The theme of the bond is also available in several collections, among which are "Liens d’amour," "Liens séduction," "Liens évidence," and "Jeux de liens."

Castafiore invites you to discover and rediscover this iconic collection from the house of Chaumet through a selection of second-hand pieces.

Chaumet: a very old high jewelry House

Chaumet is a House founded in 1780 by the artisan jeweler Marie-Étienne Nitot. Before creating his own workshop, Nitot worked with Ange-Joseph Aubert, official jeweler to Marie-Antoinette. Flying solo, Nitot established a House that would span centuries and establish itself with the greatest French families. Chaumet indeed created Napoleon's coronation sword and was also the official supplier to Empress Josephine.

It was Marie-Étienne Nitot's son, François Regnault, who decided to establish the Chaumet House on Place Vendôme, at number 15, which today corresponds to the location of the Ritz. Chaumet thus definitively established its reputation and committed to following trends throughout the centuries. The jewelry house took its current name in 1885 when a certain Joseph Chaumet took over the direction of the House. It was Joseph who gave Chaumet one of its specialties: the creation of tiaras and adornments featuring egret feathers.

Chaumet always followed stylistic developments and notably embraced the Art Deco movement by creating platinum adornments made of contrasts and graphic lines. Chaumet also participated in the avant-garde of the 1930s and began to diversify its activities in the 1950s by also becoming a watchmaker.

The 1970s marked for Chaumet the creation of a new signature collection: the Liens, which celebrate the attachment between two beings. Today, Chaumet belongs to the LVMH group; it is a historic luxury House whose jewelry can be bought, but whose adornments can also be admired in the windows of the world's greatest museums.

The Chaumet Liens collection: highly symbolic creations

While the official creation of the Liens collection dates back to the 1970s, the motif is actually much older in the history of the Chaumet House. As early as 1780, the "lien" (link) appeared in sentimental jewelry, and in the Lacs d'Amour collection, it is also found in the sketches drawn by Chaumet during the Belle Époque and the Art Deco period.

When the collection was officially created, Chaumet wanted to offer highly symbolic jewelry that embodies the thread connecting two beings to bring their destinies closer. Chaumet jewelry then takes on its full emotional dimension; it is an object that marks a stage in life.

Since 1970, the jewelry House has opened new chapters in the history of the Liens. Thus, new symbolisms and new designs have enriched the original philosophy of this signature collection. Liens Séduction tells the story of light and playful seduction, Jeux de Liens reinterprets and renews the design of sentimental jewelry dear to Chaumet, Liens Évidence symbolizes the bridge that connects two destinies, and Liens d'Amour embodies the ultimate declaration of love, one that seals a lifelong union. All these chapters are punctuated by rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and pendants, in platinum, rose gold, or white gold set with diamonds. The jewelry House on Place Vendôme has also developed an even more luxurious collection, offering Liens in white gold adorned with sapphires or rubies and diamonds.

Anne Borde and Charlotte Rey work together to select the most beautiful pieces signed by Chaumet and offer them to you on a digital platform that is now a reference in the sale and purchase of second-hand jewelry.

On Castafiore, you will, of course, find the iconic rings from the Chaumet Liens collection: explore the Liens Croisés or Liens Évidence chapters and discover pieces in white gold or rose gold, delicately adorned with a precious diamond link. At Chaumet, the link is materialized by a diamond band or by a double crossed link. For the Séduction collection, the House on Place Vendôme also designed links in the form of knots.

For its Liens collection, Chaumet also designed a series of hearts in the form of pendants, delicately held by a double diamond link. Castafiore also invites you to discover the sublime Liens Évidence bracelets that embody the power of attachment and the strength of purity. Finally, our selection highlights the Jeux de Liens and Liens d'Amour chapters: you will find rings with iconic shapes, particularly precious and luxurious because they are paved with diamonds.
