Founded in Paris in 1936 by Fred Samuel, an Argentine jeweler with a passion for light and precious stones, Fred has established itself as one of the top ten jewelry brands in the world. Its rings – instantly recognizable – combine marine heritage, creative audacity, and excellent craftsmanship. At Castafiore, our selection of used Fred rings gives you access to the Maison's most iconic collections, at affordable and authenticated prices. Fred Rise ring, white diamond model, Fred platinum or steel ring: each piece tells a story that we are proud to pass on to you.
Fred Samuel: an Argentine Maison in the Heart of Paris
Fred Samuel was born in 1908 in Argentina, into a family of Alsatian origin who traded in pearls and stones. In Paris, he trained as a jeweler and introduced cultured pearls to France – a pearl of a particular creamy pink even bears his name. In 1936, he founded his own Maison, which would become one of the most famous jewelry addresses in Paris, at 14, rue de la Paix.
A Journey Forged by Resistance and Passion
At the beginning of the war, Fred Samuel joined the Foreign Legion, was taken prisoner, managed to escape, and returned to Paris to take back control of his shop.
The Vichy government forced him to remove the name "Samuel" from his sign – he then joined the resistance, and regained possession of Fred after the liberation.
Colored diamonds were Fred's signature from his very first creations. Rubies, pink diamonds, white diamonds: the brand has always celebrated precious stones in all their diversity. It was also the woman he constantly celebrated who opened the doors of the seventh art to his boutique – and who still inspires every Fred ring, every necklace, every model signed by Fred today.
The Signature of Fred Rings: Light, Color, and Freedom
Nostalgia for his native country, passion for the sea, and memories of stones underpin the jeweler's creativity, who constantly strives to capture light and make it refract in his jewelry. An infinite palette of shimmering colors was born from this quest – and can be found in every Fred ring, whether set with white diamonds, pink diamonds, rubies, or colored stones.
White, Rose, Platinum, or Steel Models: An Infinite Palette
Each Fred ring exists in several material and color versions, to adapt to all styles and budgets.
The white diamond model remains the classic, sober, and luminous reference. The Fred rose diamond model brings a much sought-after contemporary warmth. Fred Rise rings – a term referring to the rose gold versions of the collection – captivate with their softness and modernity. The Rise white diamond model and the Rise rose diamond model are among the most popular in our vintage selection.
The rarer platinum versions offer a cool, precious whiteness that particularly enhances diamonds. The steel models, on the other hand, allow for daily wear without compromising on style – and are available at very accessible prices.
Craftsmanship Blending Tradition and Innovation
The excellent craftsmanship of Maison Fred masters traditional techniques while enriching itself with new techniques using ingenious mechanisms.
In 2017, Fred won medals and awards thanks to its digital tool "l'Atelier Fred," which allows customization of jewelry through the choice of materials, models, and colors. This capacity for innovation gives each Fred ring a real heritage value – and fully justifies the prices on the second-hand market.
