Jaeger-LeCoultre Watches
In less than ten years, the watch manufacturer Jaeger LeCoultre will celebrate its two hundredth anniversary. This house, now synonymous with excellence and luxury, was founded in 1833, under the impetus of a young Swiss inventor with a passion for watchmaking. Later, his successors would develop the Reverso technology, which would definitively make it a legend. Today, available in many different forms, the latter represented a real revolution in the world of watchmaking, and it therefore seemed obvious to the experts at Castafiore to highlight these products.

Jaeger-LeCoultre, a watchmaker ahead of its time
Founded in 1833 in the heart of the Joux Valley in Switzerland, known as the valley of watch complications, the Jaeger Le Coultre house now enjoys worldwide recognition. At the time, its founder, the young Antoine LeCoultre , transformed the family barn into a watchmaking workshop and manufactured his first pieces. Passionate about this activity, he himself designed several tools to improve the precision of his creations, with ever smaller and more sophisticated components. A few years later, in 1888, his company officially became the largest watch manufacturer in the region, which would later earn it its nickname: the Grande Maison. This has the particularity of bringing together under the same roof all the artisans working on the design of watches, i.e. 480 employees, with a formidable production capacity.
Antoine's successor, Jacques-David LeCoultre , would definitively change the destiny of the manufacture from 1903. At the time, he responded, intrigued, to a challenge launched by a French watchmaker, Edmond Jaeger, specializing in the manufacture of chronometers for the French navy. This Parisian professional called on Swiss watchmakers to develop an ultra-thin movement mechanism that he himself had developed. Jacques-David LeCoultre immediately responded to this call for tenders and this approach represented the beginning of a great story. The two men became friends and then partners, until their companies merged in 1937, thus becoming the house of Jaeger-LeCoultre. The latter was distinguished by its aesthetic, perfectly combining Parisian chic and the precision watchmaking specific to the house of LeCoultre . At this precise moment, the two professionals had found their true vocation, Haute Horlogerie. To date, the company has filed over 430 patents, most of which are true revolutions in the world of watchmaking, and has designed 1,400 different calibers.
Reverso technology, the most famous of Jaeger-LeCoultre watches
The Jaeger LeCoultre house is particularly distinguished by one of its very special creations: Reverso technology . Originally developed to withstand the blows received during polo matches by English soldiers in India, it involves being able to turn the dial on itself in order to protect it. Experts in watch complications, the artisans and engineers of the Grande Maison developed this technology at the request of a Swiss, César de Trey, who had noticed the problem while attending a match on site.
This actually involves allowing the dial to turn around on itself inside its case . The user is thus facing the back of the dial, which remains protected from knocks and various bad weather conditions. This technology has truly given Jaeger-LeCoultre watches their letters of nobility and, today, the Manufacture offers many superb exceptional models. For example, the Monet collection , which includes paintings by the famous impressionist painter hand-painted by the master enamellers of the Grande Maison on the back of the dials.
Jaeger-LeCoultre watches at Castafiore
Castafiore experts, jewelers of life, cannot remain indifferent to the history and quality of the exceptional products offered by the house of Jaeger-LeCoultre. Classic and Reverso watches have become legendary, which is why we are pleased to have several of them in our catalogue . All the models we offer have, of course, been the subject of a scrupulous analysis carried out by our founding experts, Charlotte and Anne. The latter, who worked for 30 years in the world of auctioneers and in particular at Drouot, does not let any detail or nugget pass. As for Charlotte, after 20 years spent at the house of Cartier, she helps individuals estimate their antique luxury jewellery.

Most of the time, the first dial has a white background and the second, a black background. Bet on elegance with our second-hand Jaeger-LeCoultre watches
One of the main assets of watches like those from Jaeger-LeCoultre remains their timeless aspect: for almost two centuries, they have been a benchmark in terms of excellence, avant-garde and luxury. This is why Castafiore experts remain convinced that these exceptional pieces deserve a second life when their owners no longer wear them. To ensure that these accessories last over time without suffering the effects, we promote the circular economy: the watches sold are analyzed and then resold on Castafiore, in order to accompany the adventures of a new person. Making second-hand your first choice guarantees using fewer resources and protects both the planet and the quality of the products.
To provide the best possible experience with our Jaeger-LeCoultre watches, our experts carefully analyze each product before including it in the catalog. To do this, we work in collaboration with the Sancy Expertise firm, founded in 2021. It brings together three disciplines: goldsmithing, jewelry and objects of virtue. Together, we validate the available goods, authenticate them and help owners set a fair price for their resale.
Our catalog includes Jaeger-LeCoultre watches dating from the 1935s to the contemporary era, all of which are supplied with one or more original bracelets and have benefited from a complete overhaul before being put back on sale. Some are set with diamonds, others are mounted on original gold bracelets and still others retain a more classic look, for a timeless retro style that has stood the test of time.
