Bulgari Serpenti: The timeless icon of the house
Founded in 1884 by the Greek goldsmith Sotirios Voulgaris , the Bulgari jewelry house counts among its prestigious creations the line named Serpenti.
Its first model, released in 1948, was offered in the form of yellow gold watches ; then interpreted as necklaces and bracelets from the 1960s.
The Serpenti bracelet would become the absolute icon of the Bulgari repertoire in 1962. Immortalized on the wrist of Elizabeth Taylor in the film Cleopatra, it was catapulted to the rank of myth.
In 2011, at the Christie's auction of Elizabeth Taylor's jewelry, this Serpenti watch sold for a whopping $974,500 .
In 2017, Bulgari celebrated its 130th anniversary, designing a Serpenti necklace in white gold and diamonds whose tail ends with a 12-carat pear-shaped diamond .
