At the center of the ring is a magnificent Verneuil synthetic sapphire weighing approx. 2 Carats, delicately set off by a surround of Old European cut diamonds. Note that the Sapphire is slightly frosted on the facets, barely visible to the naked eye. This effect is due to the wear and tear of time and the Ring's great age. These diamonds have a rather white hue and a total weight of around 1 carat, giving a subtle, refined brilliance to the whole piece, including the sides of the ring body called palmettes.
