Octagonal Sapphire and Diamond Ring in Platinum
Hexagonal platinum ring (hallmark: mascaron), the center of which is decorated with a rectangular blue sapphire with cut sides (probable origin: Siam or Australia) weighing approximately 3.40 Cts, in a setting of brilliant-cut diamonds. Total diamond weight estimated at approximately 1.50 Ct (estimated color G, estimated clarity VS). Modern work, Art Deco style. Gross weight: 11.55g Pattern height: 1.90 cm Pattern width: 1.65 cm Finger size: 52 (diameter 16.50 / US 6.00), with spring ring. Condition: very light micro scratches on the platinum parts, very light abrasion and natural inclusions on/in the stones, see photos. Did you know that blue sapphire owes its color to the presence of iron and titanium in its composition? The shade of blue varies according to the origin of the gems: Sapphires from Thailand and Australia, which come from basalt rocks, are generally darker because they are rich in iron.
