Art Deco Sapphire and Diamond Rosace Ring
Rosette ring in 18Kt yellow gold and platinum (hallmarks: eagle and dog), the center of which is decorated with an oval natural sapphire (probable origin: Siam) weighing approximately 1.40 Cts, in a setting of rose-cut diamonds and calibrated sapphires. French work, Art Deco, circa 1920. Gross weight: 2.14g Pattern height: 1.50 cm Pattern width: 1.30 cm Finger size: 50 1/2 (diameter 16.10 / US 5.50). Condition: very light micro scratches on the gold and platinum parts, light abrasion and shocks on the stones, see photos. Did you know that blue sapphire owes its color to the presence of iron and titanium in its composition? The shade of blue varies according to the origin of the gems: Sapphires from Thailand and Australia, which come from basalt rocks, are generally darker because they are rich in iron.
