Yellow Gold Lever-back Earrings with Glass Beads
19th-century dangling earrings in 18-karat gold. These long earrings consist of three black glass pearls imitating Onyx, connected by hinges. The frame and the clasp, of the lever-back type, are crafted from yellow gold. These were likely mourning earrings belonging to a wealthy family, as women were expected to wear all-black attire for many months following a death. Antique dangling earrings, circa 1890, France.
