Cartier Santos Vendôme Lady - ref. 8191 - c. 1990
Françoise is always amazed at the variations Cartier is capable of around the same design! The House is often in the habit of playing with the shapes, colors or sizes of a model while retaining its DNA: here we have another example. Cartier has kept the geometric aspect and codes of the Santos, while moving from a square to a round shape.
We find again the insert nailed to an 18-carat yellow gold case that made the Santos such a success in the 1980s. For this rounded model, Cartier plays on symmetry by distributing the nails on the insert slightly unevenly. This reference 8191 may be more discreet at 27 mm in diameter, but it remains highly original with its deep, plain burgundy dial.
It is mounted on a bespoke lizard black leather bracelet, paired with the original Cartier buckle in steel.
