VANCHERON & CONSTANTIN "Étrier" Watch in Rose gold and Leather

Vacheron & Constantin, a women’s wristwatch from the 1940s, in 14-carat rose gold (585‰), featuring an elegant cushion-shaped case measuring 25 × 23 mm (case no. 9883).

A particularly original creation, representative of a period of great aesthetic freedom for the Geneva-based manufacturer, when luxury watchmaking readily drew its forms and inspiration from high jewelry.

The watch’s uniqueness lies in its remarkable hinged, stirrup-shaped lugs. Both sculptural and functional, they harmoniously extend the case and allow the watch to naturally conform to the wrist.

Their bold geometry gives this piece an instantly recognizable silhouette, halfway between a collector’s watch and a piece of jewelry.

The silver dial features a particularly refined composition, combining Roman numerals and applied gold hour markers, slender gold hands, and a small seconds sub-dial at 6 o’clock.

The watch is powered by the Vacheron & Constantin Caliber 457 (No. 427022), a 17-ruby hand-wound mechanical movement adorned with Côtes de Genève. Its cushion-shaped construction complements the case’s architecture, reflecting the Manufacture’s attention to the harmony between mechanics and aesthetics.

The movement has been inspected by a specialist watchmaker and shows excellent timekeeping performance.

The watch is fitted with a new burgundy crocodile leather bracelet by Camille Fournet, Paris.
