Charming little antique dormeuses each set with a cultured pearl and a small diamond antique-cut pearl, on an 18K pink yellow gold mount. Tilting closure system. Do you know why such earrings are called "dormeuses"? Very fashionable from the mid-19th century onwards, sleeper earrings had the advantage of having a hook secured by a clasp, so there was no risk of it pulling out while ladies were resting. They also prevented the hole from closing, so they didn't get in the way during sleep.
