Rare Augis Coq Medal Neither you without me, Nor me without you in gold, rubies, sapphires and diamonds

Rare patriotic medal in 18k (750°/°°) yellow gold, rubies, sapphires and diamonds. This medal engraved at the time of the First World War (1914-1918) represents a rooster, symbol of the French Republic, eyeing the constellation Leo, symbol of England as the sea stretches into the distance and the sun rises. . The legend “Neither YOU WITHOUT ME NOR ME WITHOUT YOU” is taken from Tristan and Iseult written in the 12th century by Marie de France while she was at the court of King Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine. The entire iconographic and literary content of this medal therefore refers to the common history between France and England and their desire to fight a common enemy, Germany during this conflict. We can also think that this medal has a double meaning, less patriotic and more poetic, and that this medal could have been offered to the loved one before leaving for the front. Note that there are very few examples of this jewel which is most often found in silver. Gold models are rare and this is the first ring model we find with diamonds, sapphires and rubies.
