Antique Iberian earrings in 18 karat (750 thousandths) gold and silver, set with citrines and flat diamonds. These rare earrings are composed of five articulated elements, each adorned with small diamonds and large citrines in a gold setting. They are set on a pink-red straw, which gives them their color. They are called "Oil and Vinegar". The earrings are fastened to the ears by a yellow gold screw system that grips the earlobe. Antique citrine and diamond earrings, circa 1780-90, Iberian Peninsula. Dimensions: 74 mm x 20 mm Condition: oxidation; internal crack in one of the citrines, the fastening system was modified around 1920. Weight : 33,24 gr *The antique case is not sold with the jewel*. Point gemmologie : From the Latin "citrus" referring to lemon for its color. Citrine is a yellow quartz, just as amethyst is a violet quartz. The color of this stone can vary from lemon-yellow to orange-brown, due to the presence of iron (ferric hydroxides) in the stone. Natural citrine is particularly rare, found in Madagascar, the Urals and Uruguay.

Returns:
