Citrines du Roussillon bracelet in 18 karat yellow gold (750 thousandths). This bracelet is composed of five oval faceted citrines on red pebbles, set in a domed enclosure. The gems are alternated by four openwork filigree links. These mounted citrines are known as "Brésils catalans", a jewel from the Perpignan region of Roussillon. Bracelet from the mid-20th century.  Eagle head hallmark and LB goldsmith's hallmark. Diameter: 5 cm Dimensions of a citrine-set link: 10 mm x 17 mm Note: lobster clasp secured by a chain.  Condition: scratches from use Weight : 16,95 gr More details : At this time, the stones most commonly used in Roussillon were garnets, citrines or Aurillac topaz. A red straw was placed under the stone to give it changing luminous reflections. These stones are called "Brésils", also known as "Oli i Vinagre" in Roussillon. Gemology point : From the Latin "citrus" referring to lemon for its color. Citrine is a yellow quartz, just as amethyst is a violet quartz. The color of this stone can vary from lemon-yellow to orange-brown, due to the presence of iron (ferric hydroxides) in the stone. Natural citrine is particularly rare, found in Madagascar, the Urals and Uruguay.
