Necklace Russian turquoise drapery rose gold 14 karats (583 thousandths). Necklace Drapery composed of eleven drop-shaped plates, topped with flat turquoise cabochons. The turquoise is a beautiful lagoon blue with natural brown inclusions (pyrite and matrix inclusions). A double chain with doubled flat links completes the necklace's composition. Necklace antique drapery, circa 1900, chain changed later. Russian "sickle and hammer" hallmark (active after 1958), SAS or GAS hallmark on clasp. Total length: 42 cm Dimensions of largest drop: 21 x 45 mm Note: the slight difference in gold color between the chain and the necklace part suggests a modification of the jewel. Condition: scratches from use, chain subsequently replaced. Weight : 35.20 gr More details Turquoise may have come from Kazakhstan, a country dominated by the Russian Empire from the 17th century onwards, where turquoise mines are still found. More likely, however, it came from Persia, which supplied countries and royal courts with its beautiful, intensely blue stones.
